Farming Collective

Farming collectives are guilds of land-workers and tenant farmers who have banded together to expand their rights and powers in relation to land-owners and gentry. Farming collectives generally arise during a prolonged crises (such as a plague, famine or war) when late-stage feudalism and mercantilism have dimished the legacy authority of the nobility. In such a context, organization by land-workers can not be easily countered, and if a collective manages to gain control over a regional food supply, they can potentially force negotiations that permanently transform their rights and shift the balance of power.
