Laptarie Askandriu
Across the street from Cosutanu hall is the village General Store; a long, low building with many wide doors all along its frontage allowing it to open up into a large market. In Comerta, ‘laptarie’ means ‘dairy’, and long ago the building indeed served as a dairy barn, but it has been a market and general store for as long as anyone can remember. The Laptarie is owned and operated by the human Askandriu family, who live in an apartment in a loft above the market itself.
Virtually everything is sold here; household goods, food and groceries, seed and feed, construction materials, adventuring equipment, and even a range of exotic goods which they are sometimes able to acquire from merchants whose exports are blocked at the border. While their prices are standard book list, they are expert hagglers, and attempts to swing a deal with them will typically end poorly.
Since the quarantine, the family has been very cautious, only opening one set of doors at either end, and requiring customers to enter one at a time. Customers must pass through, select their goods, and pay at the exit, before the next customer will be permitted to enter.
