The Covaci Ghouls

 

If the party approaches the household at any time prior to 25 Trowel, they will arrive just as a ruckus is breaking out. Calls for help will be heard inside the house, and the two Order of the Flaming Sword guards posted at the front of the house will draw their weapons.

As this happens, the guard across the street at the Nectria Estate (Anastu Dragoi if it is daytime, or Beccia Godrut if it is night) will close the gates to the Nectria Estate and summon the other guard. Their orders are to secure the estate and protect the Nectria family, not to assist the town guard.

Inside the Covaci household, the mother Teofila and the younger of her two sons, Fernandu have completed their transformation into ghouls and have turned on the twin daughters Dorit and Deloru with an intention to devour them. Quick intervention from the player characters will allow them to confront and kill Teofila and Fernandu before the twins are turned to ghouls, but if the players take more than 4 turns to enter the house and engage the ghouls, the daughters will be killed, and will themselves rise as ghouls 6 turns later.

Meanwhile, the still uninfected but now terrified Francesc is crying for help, begging to be let out of the house - which will not be permitted. If the player characters have still not entered the house after 10 turns, all the Coavic ghouls will overwealm Francesc and kill him. Francesc - for inexplicable reasons - is immune to Black Rot and will not become infected and will never rise as a ghoul.

The twin daughters Dorit and Deloru are only young girls, and if they rise will have only 2/3 the health of regular ghouls. However, given the horrific tragedy, anyone who witnesses the girls rise as ghouls will immediately suffer 1d6+1 Composure damage, and for each of them that is slain, they will suffer another 1d4+1 Composure damage. If Composure reaches zero due to this, the player must roll a 21C using Social every turn at a penalty equal to the negative value of their Composure, or their character immediately enters the afraid state, and if they successfully flee, they will then collapse into the depressed state.
