Psychometry

Two of the provided Quickstart Characters, Cosmin Terezeta and Vivienne-Eve Innoviva, begin the adventure with Scrolls of Pyschometry in their possession. These scrolls are extremely useful when used to read the history of physical evidence or places and if not handled carefully, could potentially unravel the entire mystery in an instant.

PSYCHOMETRY: the gear and equipment of Danut Procop

If the characters cast the Psychometry spell on Danut Procop's ordinary belongings that were gathered from his room at Ul Grau e Rota and put into storage, they will receive the following vision.

The feelings of a season rush past; celebration and joy, drink and excess. Then weariness, cold, hunger. The thrill of stories; rumours of treasure and adventure. Inspiration unfolds from a letter. A reunion with friends and a sense of purpose. To Cosutanu and beyond; the woods, the hills, then a yellow cave; forboding. A mine; loss. A crypt; fear. A tomb; horror. The dead rise, the living fall. Danut flees. Cosutanu... a freezing room, an icy bed, pain and sickness and sores and betrayal... something dark is loose inside him.

PSYCHOMETRY: the bow of Danut Procop

If the characters cast the Psychometry spell specifically focused on his bow, which judging from his few silvered arrows seems to have been recently used, they will receive the following vision.

Panic! Disoriented in the dim yellow glow, Danut can't find room to fire. They are surrounded - terrified. Horrific forms slashing at them from all directions. Faceless figures looking down from the murals on the barrel vaults seem to mock their folly. They will die here if they don't - "Retreat!" roars Oskar, shoving Lorienza out of the room, holding his guts in as they withdraw from the chamber.

PSYCHOMETRY: the murder of Danut Procop

If the characters cast the Psychometry spell on the docks beside the river where Danut Procop was killed, or alternately, if they cast it on Danut Procop's silvered mace, which can be recovered from the riverbed beneath the docks, they will have the following vision.

A chill wind blows off the Prulme. Half-lit in Vehira's pale light, a clean-cut orc towers over Danut Procop who shivers, frustrated and alone; his body aching from need and betrayal. Demanding his due, Danut extends one trembling hand, while clenching his prize tightly in the other. But the orc smiles, or snarls; confident and in control. Rage overflows from Danut like the Prulme bursting its banks. Reaching for his mace, some dark urge drives him forward, lurching, biting. The orc draws his blade in a practiced motion and drives it between Danut's chin and collarbone - straight down into his torso. The mace tumbles into the river as Danut falls dead.

PSYCHOMETRY: the ritual in the tomb

If the characters cast the Psychometry spell on the traces of the ritual in the Grand Chamber of the Radulesc Tomb they can have a vision of what happened.

Hatred and shame boil over from the young canis priest as he draws the blade of a dagger across his palm. Sweeping his arm in a counterclockwise arc, blood oozes from his wound, snuffing the candles one by one. He recites the blasphemous incantations, and the dread horror of Her response echoes through him. One by one the candles re-ignite themselves in a blood-red flame, projects darkness instead of light. Even now, his hunters approach. There is no escape but into the embrace of the Queen of the Damned....

PSYCHOMETRY: the Coins of Golmongarion

If the characters cast the Psychometry spell on the Coins of Golmongarion after recovering them from Captain Colmal Bucur.

Spite, not horror, fills his heart as a young canis knight watches the corpse of Gheorigu Radulesc rise from his sarcophagus. Guards rush in, forcing Gheorigu back down into his resting place - he may be risen, but he is not yet strong, and he struggles as the guards hold him down. Cruelty urges the young knight on. He takes the Coins from a pouch and places them over eyes of his enemy, sentencing him to an eternity of soulless undeath in isolation. The corpse goes limp and the knight smiles as the lid of the sarcophagus is pushed back into place.

The gulf of time... days, years, centuries, pass.

An orc pushes the lid aside, exhilerated, Danut Procop peers into the sarcophagus, ecstatic. An avian woman holds a lantern, peering over his shoulder, her curiousity spilling out of her as they compare the Coins on the eyes of the mummified corpse to those in a drawing. Danut smiles and greedily snatches the Coins.

Heavy stones shift. A dark presence fill the tomb. Terror.
