Town Guards
Town Guards are posted in many different locations. In some cases players may wish to talk to them. In general, these can be treated generically, and it should not matter which specific guard is being addressed. If for some reason a specific guard develops a rapport with the Party, the Director should keep track of that individual separately.
If for any reason the particular affiliation of the guards at any given location needs to be determined, the Director should reference their assignments.
Checkpoint Guards
Guards can be found at the Checkpoints that block the roads in and out of the village to enforce the quarantine. These are found on the north side of the bridge heading toward Dileniu, and at the western edge of town, heading toward Bulostioi.

If the players inquire whether anyone has broken quaratine, the guards posted here will report that they have done their duty
GUARD 1
Aside from your group, no one has entered or exitted Cosutano by road since the quaratined was imposed. For the couple of days prior to your arrival, we had to turn away a few travellers who arrived without knowning, but none of them were suspicious or caused any trouble. Of course, we only guard the roads - if someone wants to sneak past our cordon, in or out, we'd have no real way to prevent that. As far as we know that hasn't happened.
Baciu Household Guards
For as long as infected persons remain within the Baciu Household, two guards can be found securing it.
TOPIC: status of those inside
Provided the Baciu household is in its default state, with everyone inside infected, and none as yet transformed to ghouls, the guard outside will be very nervous.
GUARD 1
Doesn't sound good in there.
GUARD 2
We hear sounds every now and then... scraping, squealing, screaming... people flailing about in fits.
GUARD 1
You should be very careful if you go in there. They could all turn anytime, I bet.

If the players ask the guard to assist them, or to protect them while they enter the house, the guards will tell them what their orders are
GUARD 1
Sorry - our orders are to secure the door and make sure none of them escape to spread the disease. We have strict orders not to enter without reinforcements.
GUARD 2
If you think it's unsafe you'll have to talk to the Lancer about freeing up some support... but that will take time.
GUARD 1
I don't think whoever is in there has much time left.
Covaci Household Guards
The guards at the Covaci Household will only be present if the characters arrive before 25 Trowel. After this, the Covacis will have turned and fled and the house will be empty and unguarded. If they arrive before 25 Trowel they will arrive just as the Covaci Ghouls encounter begins, leaving them only a moment to talk to the guards.

if the players ask the posted guards what's happening as soon as they arrive, they can have a brief exchange before the encoutner starts.
GUARD 1
We've still got one uninfected... the son, Francesc. Not sure why he's held out for so long.
GUARD 2
But it sounds like their stirring about a bit in there today... I have a bad feeling... there is a sudden CRASH from inside the house
Begin the Covaci Ghouls encounter.

If the players call for help from the guards as the encounter breaks out
GUARD 1
Our orders are to make sure none of them escape! You do what you have to, we'll guard the doors!
GUARD 2
There is a second door around the back! Don't let them escape that way!
Dandariu Household Guards
For as long as infected persons remain within the Dandariu Household, two guards can be found securing it. In it's default state there are 2 infected inside the house, and 4 who are not. This might change, and the Director should account for those changes in the conversations below as appropriate.
TOPIC: status of those inside
In most cases, when the player characters arrive, some of those in the Dandariu house will be infected, and others will remain uninfected, and will have reported to the guard and new infections such that the information is up to date.
GUARD 1
The ones inside say there are [2] infected and [4] who remain uninfected.
GUARD 2
They'll probably all be infected by tomorrow or the next day.
GUARD 1
If there is anything you can do, you should do it quick.
Surdo Household Guards
For as long as infected persons remain within the Surdo Household, two guards can be found securing it.

There are only three of them in there, but they're getting a bit restless.

We hear them sometimes; flailing about, wretching.

I think they will turn soon... and then we'll have to... yeah.

TOPIC: Ramona Surdo
If the players ask the guard about Ramona Surdo, the mothter of the family, and one of the only people to recover.
GUARD 1
Yes, I heard she is recovering at the Church. If she recovered, she's one of the lucky ones, I guess.
GUARD 2
Not so lucky - her whole family is going to turn into ghouls.

Well, that's what they're here for... to cure them, I hope. Right?
