Iordan Mitriu is confident and charming, but at the same time he is entitled and given to self-aggrandizement. He is overtly intellectually daring in the dullest possible sense; presenting borderline extreme straw-men to make his point, then retreating to populist rhetorical positions.
Based on nothing, Iordan is absolutely convinced he is the right man to take the open position at the Bank, and truly believes that the Bank must have already arrived at the same conclusion. The fact that they overlooked him the first time in favour of Gavriela Nectria is easy for him to dismiss as political favoritism. In reality, she was the hard working one who deserved the position and he is the one benefitting from his mother's political (and murderous) efforts to get him the job.

If Ignaciu Zgeseanu asks about Iordan's qualifications, he'll make it sound like acting as a clerk for his father is a matter of great importance. In fact, his father is responsible for managing a small number of the families holidings, as it is his mother Daciana who does all the work.

I have a great many qualifications. As heir to the Mitriu entitlements, I have spent much of the last six years working directly alongside my father negotiating agreements and contracts with the Bank, and with our various tenants across our many holdings. I consider myself an expert in administrative matters, and bring a wealth of invaluable connections.

I believe that eastern Tulosz has now, finally, completed the transition from a cumbersome, centralized imperial state to a free and liberal mercantile society where power rests with private institutions and influential families - as it should. While entitlements and nobility of a kind still remain, they are now established by merit, rather than by royal fiat.
As you know, the Bank of Bulostioi played a pivotal role in dismantling the Kingdom, but also in developing this region, and indeed, all of Tulosz. I feel the Bank is the right place for proud humans like ourselves to prove our merit and to continue to earn the powers and privileges we hold and deserve.

Gavriela was a close friend, and truly a shining star. Truth be told, I’m devastated - and perhaps doubly saddened by the timing of it all. It seems so unfair; to return to Cosutanu just in time to suffer such grave misfortune. If only she’d been more successful in Bulostioi this would never have happened….
